L2.b · Documentation

Your NetSuite knowledge, kept in writing.

The script works. The person who wrote it has moved on. Carmen Documentation helps your team understand what is there, what changed and where to start next.

A living catalogue of your customizations

Level 2.b brings documentation into the Carmen experience. It inventories your NetSuite scripts and maintains a catalogue, individual documents and a central design overview. New and changed scripts, releases and deployments can be picked up in configured nightly batches.

Use the catalogue as a starting point for handovers, support investigations and planning changes. Documentation is included with Carmen Level 2 and Level 3; contact the team to discuss access and setup.

Keep the context when something changes

  • Document versions: follow how the explanation evolves as source changes.
  • Change impact: review what changed and the areas that may need attention.
  • Human notes: preserve the business knowledge your team adds.
  • A central overview: find a shared explanation of the design alongside individual documents.

Generated documentation is a draft to review against the actual source and your team’s business knowledge. A catalogue helps expose unknowns; it does not replace a technical review.

Scripts and workflows, with clear coverage

Your administrator selects the documentation destination and enables source processing. Script and workflow processing have separate switches and start off. Nightly windows and batch limits keep the work scheduled and bounded.

Workflow documentation also needs workflow definitions from a collector on a customer-managed runner. The team will help scope that setup. Until those definitions are available, Carmen identifies the missing coverage so readers know what has and has not been documented.

A useful pilot starts with one handover

Choose a customization that someone other than its author needs to understand. Agree the destination with your administrator, document the intended behavior, then review the generated explanation. Make one controlled change and check the next version, change impact and preserved human notes.

Useful questions include: “What does this script do?”, “Which part changed?”, “What should we inspect before a release?” and “Where is the business context recorded?” Measure whether another team member can find and verify the explanation more easily.

Bring your documentation gap to Carmen

Tell us whether scripts, workflows, a handover or change review is the immediate priority. An anonymized description is enough for the first conversation. We will confirm the current package, source-processing requirements and pilot scope.
